PROJECT YUVA BHARATHI 2007

Funded by Auckland City Council & Creative New Zealand

NZCMS is planning to conduct workshops involving music education to increase the cultural awareness amongst Indian/Sri Lankan youth.

The Youth Development programme, called “Yuva Bharathi” will involve the following;

a.      Qualified musicians will conduct a total of 26workshops on a fortnightly basis at a central venue.

b.     These workshops are designed to enhance the theoretical and practical knowledge of the youth by involving them in stage performance related activities.

c.     At the successful completion of the said workshops participants will be well aware of their rich cultural heritage and it is hoped that these values will be transmitted in their daily lives.

d.     The participants of this programme would become cultural ambassadors of their own heritage while preserving the good name of their adopted country, New Zealand.

e.      These youth would also be role models for the next generation both in spirit and action.

Project was inaugurated by Smt Bombay Jayashree on 18 June 2007 with a lecture demonstration on topic: Aesthetics in Concert Planning
