growing membership and patronage from the community. NZCMS is registered as a “ charitable organisation” and is a “not

primary objectives include promoting and encouraging interest in classical
Carnatic music among the local community in
Carnatic Music is the traditional South Indian Classical Music.
Looking at the growing interest in learning and as an organisation committed to Carnatic Music and its development, the Society thought it fit to formalise music education through a standard syllabus and set a procedure to grade students through private examinations.

music available internationally with the guidance from patron Professor
Rajalakshmi Thirunarayanan (Retired Professor & Head of Department of
Music,
The Society thus formed its education wing with the name “NZCMS – CENTRE OF LEARNING” and obtained approval from the Academy of Fine Arts, London to follow their syllabus and to hold examinations in Auckland based on their syllabus. Accordingly first such Examinations were held in May 2003. Since then educational activities have grown in leaps and bounds.
The Centre of Learning is now looking into the future and
project 2007
and Beyond – NEW SYSTEM and SYLLABUS is now underway.
